Picnic in the Park

Writer: Oregon Buddhist TempleOregon Buddhist Temple

Every September, we have one outdoor service that we call Picnic in the Park. Recently, it had been held at Kenilworth Park, which is not too far from the temple. This year, the weather was very gorgeous -- sunny, but not hot... a little breeze, but not too gusty. The service started with ringing of the bell, followed by a short talk about appreciation of Nature by Christine, and then Reverend Yuki's Dharma message. With the trumpet played by Todd, we sang Ondokusan.

After the service, we had the Potluck Picnic -- with all sorts of delicious food people had brought. This is always a lovely occasion for people to mingle and to get to know each other, and enjoy the company of new and old! People stayed and chatted for a few hours, while kids ran around and played.
