Happy October, Dharma friends!

Fall is officially here, and there’s a lot to look forward to at the Oregon Buddhist Temple! šŸ From Dharma talks and community gatherings to special events and, of course, delicious food, October is shaping up to be a busy month at OBT.

And speaking of delicious food… the Sukiyaki Fall Bazaar is almost here!Ā šŸ²šŸ„¢

Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 25, from noon–3 PMĀ and join us for one of OBT’s favorite fall traditions. The Fall Bazaar will offer sukiyaki for dining in or pickup, along with tsukemono, inari, fukujinzuke, sweet treats, and other goodies available for purchase that day.

If you’re planning to enjoy some sukiyaki, don’t wait to place your order!Ā Pre-orders for sukiyaki and tsukemono are due by Sunday, October 11. There will be vegan and beef sukiyaki options, so there’s something for everyone. 🌱🄩

But an event like this doesn’t happen without our wonderful OBT volunteers! ā¤ļø We’ll need lots of helping hands, and there are plenty of ways to pitch in. On Saturday, October 24, volunteers will be preparing food, cutting, chopping, and packing. Then on Sunday, we’ll need help with cooking, assembly, cashiering, and many other jobs.

Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or have never helped with an OBT event before, we’d love to have you join us!Ā It’s a great way to meet other members of the Sangha, lend a hand, and have some fun along the way.

Beyond the bazaar, this month’s newsletter includes reflections on the Dharma, updates from our various temple groups, Dharma School news, upcoming activities, and opportunities to connect with our wider Buddhist community.

Rev. Vonn Magnin’s October message offers a creative retelling of the Parable of the Two Rivers and the White Path, reflecting on the challenges we encounter in life and the path of the nembutsu. As he reminds us, we’re fortunate to be walking that White Path together as Dharma friends. šŸ™

So, grab your calendar, place your bazaar order, and consider signing up for a volunteer shift!

šŸ² Order your sukiyaki by October 11.

šŸ™Œ Sign up to volunteer October 24 or 25.

šŸ Then join us October 25 for the Sukiyaki Fall Bazaar!

We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Golden Chain Diner!

Namo Amida Butsu — and happy fall!Ā šŸ‚šŸŽƒ
