Dear Sangha, The 75th Annual Northwest Buddhist Convention is being held September 16-18. This will be a hybrid event to allow for attendance in person as well as virtually, with the ability for two-way communication, when appropriate, and to move from one session to another at will. The in-person event will be at the Four Rivers Cultural Center in Ontario, Oregon. What: NW District Convention at Ontario, OR; “Reflecting on the Past, Looking to the Future,” at the Four Rivers Cultural Center or virtual (hybrid, may be in-person or virtually). Keynote speakers are Bishop Marvin Harada and Stuart Hirai. When: September 16-18, Friday–Sunday, at the Four Rivers Cultural Center in Ontario, Oregon or virtually. Registration: Please register each person separately, and mail to Mary Ann Shimojima with payment(s). IOBT will accommodate cancellations no later than September 15. Minor children must have Medical Care consent forms submitted. In-person $150 (adult), $125 (student/youth), $90 (K-5th grades), and $75 (age 3 – PreK) Virtual participant is $35 Meals: Saturday lunch and dinner included with registration (regular or vegetarian option); Banquet (if attending this event only) $75; and Sunday Bento (optional) $20. Hotel: We are to pay for and make our own hotel reservations. OIBT has blocked rooms at Holiday Inn Express ($149 king and $159 double, before taxes) until August 15 (reference “NW Buddhist Convention” for the group rates).
Other hotels are Sleep Inn, Clarion Inn, Best Western Inn, Red Lion, Super 8, and Motel 6. IOBT is not responsible for refunds from hotels if you must cancel your reservation. Gassho, The OBT Board
